Survey for Choosing Title of Film Opening

So Guys, we are wanting your feedback on what the title should be for our film opening, so if you are tracking my blog, then you will be familiar to what the conventions are included in my production planning. Here are the options...

1) You're Next

2) Anonymous

3) Unidentified

4) Undisclosed

5) I Still Remember

When you include your choice of the title, please state why you have chose this...
Thank you!

Whilst focusing more on the time consuming film opening, we still have to carry out a brief preliminary video that lass around half a minute. These is our planning for our preliminary task. Please feedback!

step 4

This is our step 4 mind map, this was our final step of planning. Please feedback!!

Media AS - Filming Plan & Ideas - Step 3

After Planning out our 3rd lot of ideas for our short film opening, we had our 3rd consecutive meeting with our teacher to discuss our new ideas and to receive more feedback.

After hearing some more areas in which we could improve in,we then worked on Step 4. Our teacher did however, notice that our step 3 was more looked at and more film-like.

The Improvements we made were:

  • Actual decision on everything - story is more clear, 'gaps have now been filled'
  • Pieced together the movie as a whole
  • Questionnaires on weapon best suited to use and the title of the film
  • Narrative hook is effective
After hearing even more positive feedback and now, a few questions on our idea, we went away to start Step 4 which would be our more detailed, planned out, and a more deeper explanation to our film.

We decided that to help us think of what to call our film and what weapon to use, we still looked closely at films like;

  • Amusement
  • Tormented
  • Scream
  • I know what you did last summer

Media AS - Filming Plan & Ideas - Step 2 Written

After planning out our second draft for our AS film production, we had our second one - on - one meeting with our teacher to discuss our new and improved ideas and to see what feedback we would recieve.

After hearing some more areas in which we could improve on, we went away and again discussed other ways in which we can improve our ideas and made a start on Step 3.

The Improvements we made were:

  • Rethinking over our storyline so we could be more clear on  how to make everything piece together
  • Show the reason behind his killing
  • Why the victims are linked
  • Why the  victims is in the alleyway

After jotting even more ideas & improvements together on a Step 3 mindmap, we were able to make our narrative much clearer.

We also decided on films to watch and take notes on;

  • Scream
  • Amusement
  • Tormented
  • Sorrority Row
These would also benefit us for ideas on the title design ideas and the effect it will create.

Media AS - Filming Plan & Ideas - Step 1 - Written

After planning out our first ideas for our opening of a short film, we had a one - on - one meeting with our teacher to discuss our ideas and to recieve feedback. After hearing the areas in which we can improve on, we then went away and discussed the improvements we needed to make in order to proceed to Step 2 of our planning.

The Improvements we made were:

  • Becoming more clear on the storyline
  • Deciding on an effective narrative hook
  • Discussing how we would go about our story by picking up on the loose parts
  • Become clearer to the audience
  • The various shot types we would need to use
  • What our victim would look like
  • Various possible ideas

After putting all our new ideas & improvements, together we came up with 'Step 2' with more complex, more planned ideas and had better thoughts.

We had 3 possible ideas on our storyline that we added to 'Step 2'. We also icluded where and what our establsihing shot was going to be and decided on a more specific time to carry out the filming procedure.

We also decided to carry out extra research on horror films to gain more knowledge/ expertees as horror is our chosen genre.

Hi guys, i will shortly publish my step 4 photo and feedback from our teacher!

Is there any films that you feel can relate and can offer great ideas and conventions to our AS Media production? Please Feedback Guys!

Research!

Hi everyone, this is my film research that we found interesting and analysed the good conventions withing their films. If you have ever watched them please feedback on what you thought of the films and if there are appropriate research for our AS media production

Faces in the crowd is a film that i watched over various times to see if i would be able to relate any conventions of their film into our production. Faces in the crowd comes under as a thriller genre and we got an inspiration for a serial killing e.g. the start exemplifies what we are doing in our production. However the film doesn't resemble througout the opening sequence but does cover a brief scene.

Tormented is another film that i researched during my research and i hade found various conventions and brief storyline within the film that i feel will work well in our film. The bullying/revenge part of the film will be introduced.

I Know What You Did Last Summer is another film we researched for ideas and inspiration to see what sort of conventions we could pick up on to include in our film and also to gain a greater knowledge of our chosen genre and what conventions work well in relation to a standare horror/thriller film opening.

I also researched Drag me to Hell very briefly to understand the various concepts that they use to create the blonde girl as their victim and how they may relate to our film production. After watching the opening, i gained several ideas for our blonde victim and the conventions and characteristics needed in our film production.

These links are available for people to watch them and comment on what is positive and negative about getting inspiration from these films. If you feel that there are any other appropriate conventions that will be suitable and beneficial to our film then please feedback!!!

Film Research!

Faces in the Crowd - The film centers around a woman who developed prosopagnosia after being attacked by a serial killer. As she lives with her condition, one in which facial features change each time she loses sight of them, the killer closes in. We have taken a few things that will link in well with ours.

Scream - High school student Casey Becker receives a flirtatious phone call from an unknown person, asking her, "What's your favorite scary movie?" The situation quickly escalates out of control as the caller turns sadistic and threatens her life. He reveals that her boyfriend Steve is being held hostage. After failing to answer a question correctly about horror films, Steve is murdered. When Casey refuses to cooperate with the caller, she is attacked and murdered by a masked killer, and her body is hung from a tree. There are vartious techniques and camera shots we could possibly deploy in our production!
Hi guys, I would very much appreciate it if people could kindly send some feedback on whether the steps we have taken on creating our storyline for our AS Production!

You could comment on whether you like the storyline, what you like/dislike about the planning, And really just comment on the blog itself idfd you feel there should be more specific or frequent blog updates. Thanks Guys!

"Questionnaire on WHAT WEAPON WE CAN USE"

Hi everyone,

Me and Tyler have been talking about the killers weapon and what the killer could use on his victims.. If you look back on my mind maps you will get a rough idea on our storyline.. We want the weapon to be the same for every victim..

We would really appreciate your input and please let us know what you think our weapon should be..

Here's the options, leave your comments on the weapon!

Thanks!

HAMMER: Blunt object, pain, crushing skull.

GUN: Baring in mind, it will be loud. Personally this would be my last choice of a weapon.

KNIFE: Sharp pain, easy to hide. Brutal.

ROPE (strangulation): Slow, long-lasting pain. The fact you are witnessing the victim die slowly and painfully.

These are the notes and feedback given back by our teacher and we have included the improvements for our film and the notes indicate that the step process is improving as we are set less improvements each time which is showing our progress and creativity skills.

After completing our step 1 and step 2 in our planning & ideas for our AS media production we then moved on to creating a step 3 in the planning and as you can see the image of our step 3 mindmap is much more detailed and complex...

From our step 3, we have made several alterations and improvements to our storyline and using more in depth planning to have a very strong plan by the end of the planning procedure.
After showing our step 2 mind map to our teacher, we was then asked to make notes regarding the improvements that need to be made to our next planning. We also made a brief list of the film openings we had watched and researched to get inspiration from and learnt the different conventions.

After getting feedback from our teacher we then created step 2 in a mindmap layout therefore coming up with a more detailed and informative plan!

After a debate with my partner and our teacher, we finally decided to lean over to my (Dean's) idea, however we did create a similar but more effective and creative storyline that will eventually become a great opening sequence

This is Step 1! Please Feedback!

After a meeting with our teacher, he gave us feedback on what was positive as well as negative in order for us to improve our planning for our video production.

These are the notes on the improvements that we need to make it better.
Hi Guys, In a group discussion i have decided to work with Tyler purely because we want to create a film that comes under the horror/thriller genre and have briefly shared our ideas together. Updates and images of our planning will follow soon!
So i have produced my own individual planning for the opening sequence as part of our AS media part. This is the picture of my mindmap!

Getting started: Media AS Work, Production, Ideas & Mistakes!!!

So i have officially created my media blog. I will from now regularly update my blog with my as media ideas and work and also our task in hand and our video which as an opening sequence and i will welcome any feedback and for your opinions on our work ahead!

My initial idea of the creation on an opening sequence as an individual was to create a horror/thriller. My idea was to include a stereotypical protagonist and victim set-up but with a twist. My idea was to have previous murders not filmed but we film this particular scene when the audience will see a build-up to a particular breakthrough and therefore it ends and i thought this was a appropriate way to hook a particular audience in and try and figure out what happens next?
